English TV is a new show which combines an interactive TV format specially for teenagers with an intriguing story between a male and female TV presenter using masks, music and comedy. The students will be asked to participate in the TV show divided into teams chosen at random by the actors. The format of English TV varies from show to show but there will be plenty of chance to practice English and generally have fun! We do talk about Marilyn Monroe so it would be a good idea if the students knew something about her sad life. Activities that could be prepared but please if you do not have time or the inclination there is absolutely no need to prepare the students. • Get the class to write down their favourite rock groups or singers. Collect in the lists. Write down the three most popular and ask the class to vote on their favourite out of these three names. • Prepare interview questions for your favourite musical star or group. Where were you born? etc and find out the answers. • Imagine you are a DJ. Give yourself a stage name. i.e. Invent a name for yourself. • Write a few words of introduction to your favourite song. Launch this song as a DJ on the air. • Invent a name for an English radio station • Learn the Hand Jive from Grease. • Write a jingle to present the English radio station and sing it in groups of 4 . • Find out about Marilyn Monroe. Why is she famous? Name one of her films. Was her life happy?
